I wanted to do something unique and different when I decided to join in on this swap. I love history, especially the Renaissance Era and so when I joined the Vintage Fashion Exchange, that era was the first that came to mind. This deco was one fo the first that I decided to try different materials with and so I used a plethora of supplies. Shiny purple paper was the base for this deco and then I used lace and unique graphic that I stumbled across using an antique color scheme and green string to bring out the greens in the dresses. When I created this deco I did use Tape as its lamination and shortly after was given advice by my lovely friend Indi on how to create Untaped creations that would look better given the 3d effect and the textures!
Of course for deco #2 in this theme, I did not want to use the same scheme as I did for the previous deco... so I went with more of the Paris Retro look. At first I used black thread to cross-stitch the entire top of this deco and then gold for the bottom.. but somehow the paper started becoming taunt and bundled and it just didnt look very good. So I had to actually cut the top of this deco into this odd shape that you see before you, luckily it helped the look of the deco. Then of course I used that ever popular tearing technique for the middle of the deco... and used my lovely metallic gel pens to write the text. While using a black and a gold button as accents. I was actually quite proud of the outcome of both decos, I wasnt sure about this one at first... but luckily it turned out pretty nicely.... the odd shape makes it that much more interesting to look out. Unfortunately I have no idea where either of these decos are at the moment. It saddens me to know that I may never see them again :( Isnt that always how the cookie crumbles?
