Today I took some time to create my very first set of ATC's :) They were all part of group challenges in 2 groups that I am a part of! I really had a blast at creating these, I just wish the pics were a little better, too bad I dont have my scanner anymore :(
This is my favorite of the 3 that I created today.. I just loved the image and I guess the colors as well. The ATC was made from a playing card, and then I painted the background with acrylics. The pictures is actually printed on vellum (so that you can see the background through the image) I thought that would be a neat effect.
I have this awesome vanilla scented candle that was a gift to me and it had a ribbon tied to it with the cute little sayings like the one on the card.. so I clipped a bit of the ribbon off and used it as an embellishment it says 'Sweet Things in Life' and then I added a few pearls around the top corner. I really love how it turned out, I just wish you could see the textures and everything that is going on... the pic doesnt do it so much justice. I took a pic of the back of the card as well with my little logo! :)
I thought the back turned out jsut as well as the front. I think that I found a new favorite item... GESSO! I love working with it to add texture! There is so much you can do with it! I have always just used it for canvas's but tried it with this project and it was brilliant!
I almost forgot to mention that this ATC was for the July Graphic Challenge featured in my group Creative Swappers, so far I have been the only entry in the challenge but Im sure others will jump in soon! :) At least I hope so, I love gandering at what others do with the same image! Everyone always comes up with such creative differences! :)
This ATC was for a challenge called 'One Fine Fellow' in one of my favorite groups that I am a pround newbie to called Altered Designs. I really enjoyed how this turned out as well... I used a similar technique for the background w/ the gesso and the acylics but I used different colors of course and a different pattern.... I also used a scroll border stamp where I took a little ink and put it on the stamp and then topped that with a little gesso and then stamped it in the corners and WA-LA... neat effect huh? The image of the fellow is also printed on vellum and then I actually took my acrylics and dry brushed some color to the back of the image on both the fellow and the sand dial... I really wish this pic showed the colors better because it really has more than what is shown in this pic... *rolls eyes* oh well! You'll just have to take my word for it~ HAHA!
This is of course the problem child of the 3 *lol* I used the same techniques with this ATC except for the fact that I thought that I would try putting a coat of sealer on the entire thing when I was finished to make it all safe from bending in places and things... THEN The trouble started... the vellum started buckling and curling and so I had to remove it and put new photos of the image *the originals were in sepia on vellum* and these new images were just black and white print outs. I didnt want to try the vellum again and risk another ruined graphic and more of a mess... I think I have it fixed, and do wish that the sepia one would have worked because I liked it better all around but I like this one as well. I used a metal embellishment and some pearls as well. :) The was also for Altered Designs Beautiful Lady Challenge :)
